Badges are awards given for doing certain tasks which are ranged from simple tasks to seemingly impossible tasks (with Black Hole badges being the hardest to obtain, and some of them are impossible, even though there are only five of them) on Khan Academy. Some of them come with energy points, with the higher badges giving more than their predecessors. That's because they are harder to get. But some badges do not give any energy points!

  • Apprentice Pre-Algebraist Master the exercises Positive and negative and zero exponents, Adding and subtracting negative numbers, and Adding and subtracting fractions. This shows that you have basic mastery in more complex arithmetic operations.
  • Journeyman Pre-Algebraist Master the exercises Negative exponents, Multiplying and dividing negative numbers, Multiplying fractions, and Dividing Fractions. This shows medium mastery in complex arithmetic operations.
  • Artisan Pre-Algebraist Master the exercises Fractional exponents, Order of operations, Ordering numbers, Scientific notation, Units, and Simplifying radicals. This shows advanced mastery in complex arithmetic operations.
  • Apprentice Algebraist  Master the exercises Fractional exponents, Exponent rules, Simplifying logarithms, One-step equations with multiplication, Percentage Word Problems 1 (% Word 1 in the description), and Functions 1. This shows that you have more mastery in complex arithmetic operations and have in fact, mastered arithmetic. It also shows mastery in basic algebra.
  • Journeyman Algebraist Master the exercises 2-step equations, Percentage word problems 2, Evaluating expressions with function notation, Domain fx., Even/Odd functions, and Shifting and Reflecting functions. This shows more mastery in algebra and functions.
  • Artisan 1 Algebraist Master the exercises Equations with variables on both sides, Systems of equations, Multiplying expressions 1, Even/Odd function, Inverse function, Line slope, Midpoint Formula, Line Relations, and Functions 3. This shows even more mastery in algebra in functions and starts to get into systems of equations.
  • Artisan 2 Algebraist Master the exercises Multi-step equations, Multi-step linear inequalities, Average word problems, Finding the equation of a line, Quadratic Factoring, Quadratic Formula, Solving Variables, and Expressions with Unknown Vars 1. This shows more mastery in solving equations, getting into multi-step equations, linear inequalities, and quadratic solving.
  • Artisan 3 Algebraist Master the exercises New operator definitions 1, New operator definitions 2, Expressions with unknown variables 2, Absolute Value Equations, Radical Equations 1, and Rate Problems 1. This shows even more mastery in solving equations and gets into new operator definitions and rate problems.
  • Apprentice Trigonometrician Master the exercises Angles 2, Distance formula, and Pythagorean theorem. This isn't much, and the topics aren't exactly on trigonometry, but rather on what comes before that.
  • Journeyman Trigonometrician Master the exercises Special right triangles and Trigonometry 1. This shows basic mastery in trigonometry.
  • Artisan Trigonometrician Master the exercises Trigonometry 2, Graphs of sine and cosine, Inverse trig functions, Pythagorean identities, and Addition and subtraction trig identities (Trig+-ident in description). This shows more mastery in trigonometry.

AnnotationsEditEdit

Certain annotations are shown when you hover over your badges with the mouse. These depend on the total number of badges you have.

The annotation is simply the number of badges you have, plus a word. The word can be any of these :

  • 0 badges - You don't have any badges!
  • 1-25 badges - Neato!
  • 26-50 badges - Nice!
  • 51-100 badges - Great!
  • 101-150 badges - Wonderful!
  • 151+ badges - Legendary!
For example: "232 badges. Legendary!" There may be different annotations for gaining even more badges than this.
